Ellerbe rips Triller for poking fun at Mayweather-Paul

Fighting

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe isn’t taking too kindly to online jokes regarding the recent Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul exhibition bout — particularly if they’re coming from other platforms. Last week Triller posted a meme about the unseemly matchup which has clearly gotten under the skin of the promoter.

That post would trigger a response from Ellerbe, who would say that he hasn’t mentioned one bad word about any of the cards Triller is putting together but he’s ready to get petty if the new entrant in boxing wants the smoke.

Unfortunately the Triller account has yet to respond directly to Ellerbe as the company works on their upcoming card set to air on PPV this weekend, headlined by Teofimo Lopez defending his lightweight titles against George Kambosos Jr, though it has yet to be seen what kind of sustained impact they will have on the sport of boxing. Generally speaking, more competition should spur better products for consumers, but many companies have come and gone in the sport with big hopes and dreams only to quickly fizzle out.

If the best boxers aren’t fighting one another in the ring, the top promoters going at it may just be the next best thing.
