Arthur-Yarde 2 planned for October 9th

Fighting

Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren sat down with The Unibet Lowdown’s Dev Sahni to discuss his upcoming plans. Warren revealed that he intends to stage the rematch between Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde on October 9th as the “U.K. lead in to Fury vs Wilder 3,” potentially in Manchester.

“King” Arthur (19-0, 13 KO) rode a strong start to a split decision win in last December’s first meeting with Yarde. Arthur has since stayed busy with a July stoppage of Davide Farace, while Yarde has seen multiple stay-busy fights fall through. He’s presently slated to return on August 28th against TBA.

Arthur presently sits at #1 in the WBO light heavyweight rankings, but it may be a while before whoever wins the rematch gets his shot at Joe Smith Jr. The champ has a date with mandatory challenger Umar Salamov on October 23rd and a brewing follow-up against Daniel Jacobs early next year, plus a potential unification match with Artur Beterbiev at some point. This fight’s winner may have to settle for bragging rights and maybe a tussle with Callum Johnson.
