Tyron Woodley: It’s Kind of Offensive Some Critics Think I’m Not Taking Fight Seriously

Boxing Scene

Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39-years-old, is offended by some of the critics who believe that he’s only coming to cash a check when he faces Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul, on Sunday night in Cleveland.

Paul is only taking part in his fourth pro fight, but he’s yet to face an actual boxer.

Woodley is easily the most dangerous opponent of his boxing run.

On the other hand, Woodley – while at one time regarded as one of the best MMA fighters in the world – is making his professional boxing debut.

In his first three fights, Paul knocked out Youtube rival AneSonGib, NBA veteran Nate Robinson, and retired MMA fighter Ben Askren.

The fight with Askren took place back in April, when Paul connected early on with one big shot to the chin in the first round. Askren went down and the fight was soon waved off.

There were many observers who felt Askren was overweight and wasn’t mentally focused on wining the fight.

Woodley rejects any chatter that he’s not fully focused on walking away with the victory.

“I’m taking it serious. That’s what I think. I think the amount of people that know me and know better than to call me and ask me – am I throwing this fight for money, or is it a real fight, or is it exhibition?,” Paul told Fighthype.com.

“Like, I don’t understand why people think in 2021, somebody’s willing to let somebody pay them for a fight when I’ve been nothing but a competitor for 30 years. And it’s kind of offensive. So, to me, I’m like, ‘Alright. Let me show everybody what it’s all about.’”
