Boxing streaming and TV schedule for January 4-6

Fighting

Highlights!

  • Vergil Ortiz Jr is BACK! Or at least currently SCHEDULED TO BE! Ortiz is set to move up to 154 lbs to face Fredrick Lawson in a DAZN main event on Saturday from Las Vegas.
  • Well, it’s just the one show, really. January is traditionally a dead zone on the boxing schedule, though at least this year every Saturday has SOMETHING, so that’s a plus.
  • Let’s get going in 2024!

Thursday, Jan. 4

DAZN and Social Media, 4:00 pm ET, Ortiz vs Lawson press conference.

Friday, Jan. 5

DAZN and Social Media, 4:00 pm ET, Ortiz vs Lawson weigh-in.

Saturday, Jan. 6

TrillerTV+, 7:00 pm ET, Dusty Hernandez Harrison vs Norberto Gonzalez.

DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Fredrick Lawson. Ortiz is still just 25, but hasn’t fought since Aug. 2022 due to further health complications, which have made so he’s fought just that one time since Aug. 2021, so two-and-a-half years at this point, basically. He’s moving up in weight, which they’re hoping will help, and taking a pretty soft touch in Lawson, the 34-year-old Ghanaian who is also really a welterweight by trade. It was expected that Ortiz would be well past this sort of fight by now, but real life stuff has unfortunately held him back, this isn’t the normal type of failure to move up the ladder. The show also features the rescheduled Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso WBA eliminator at 140, Arnold Barboza Jr’s Golden Boy debut against Xolisani Ndongeni (which is a terrible step back for Barboza and a pure “get-busy” fight), and Raul Curiel vs Elias Diaz. BLH will have live updates and results.
