Boxing Scene

Callum Walsh will return to action on Friday, June 7 at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.

Walsh, who stopped Dauren Yeleussinov in the ninth round March 15 in New York, will headline the upcoming California show, to be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass. No opponent for Walsh has yet been announced.

Guided by Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, Walsh, a 23-year-old native of Cork, Ireland, improved to 10-0 (8 KOs) and earned the WBC Continental Super Americas welterweight title in the St. Patrick’s Day weekend event at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

“Callum’s fight night was in the top 20 of all boxing events held in the historic Theater at Madison Square Garden,” said Tom Loeffler, whose 360 Promotions held the event. “That’s a huge statement for only his second fight in New York City and the storied history of the venue. Callum’s event was also the highest-rated boxing show in the history of UFC Fight Pass.”

During fight week, Walsh met with a large group of local dignitaries at the Irish Consulate and held a media photo shoot at the Empire State Building.

“Now, with all the numbers that have been tallied,” Loeffler said, “‘King’ Callum Walsh has clearly established himself as the fastest rising star in boxing.”
