‘I don’t know why the referee stopped the fight’: Diaz reacts to TKO loss to Duarte

Following the first stoppage loss of his career Joseph Diaz spoke to all his fans in a live stream after the fight, explaining that while he doesn’t agree with the stoppage he’s still in good spirits and expects to come back better at a lower weight. Check out some of what he had to say below.

“First off I just want to apologize I didn’t get the W today,” said Diaz. “I thought it was a close fight, man. I thought I was boxing him, I don’t know why the referee stopped the fight, man. But it is what it is, guys.

“I just want to say I’m thankful ‘cause I’m winning out of life now. I’m very fortunate that I got my beautiful baby girl, got my son, I’m healthy, I’m not doing any alcohol anymore, I’m not partying. I’m just focused on just bettering my life and following the life of Christ.

“Regardless of this loss, before when I was losing I would go and drink and I would go and party and just drink my sorrows away. But I got the power of God in me right now, guys, and I just want to be a positive influence not only for myself, but for my family, for you guys as well, and to all my fans.

“I’m going to be back in the gym working on just getting better. I think I’m probably going to move down to like 130, 135. Like I said, I thought I was doing good, man. But fuckin’ this guy Oscar Duarte kept coming. I wasn’t hurt, like I said, but it was a pretty good fight.”
