‘I have a new challenge in front of me’: Ngannou looks forward to opportunity against Joshua

Fighting

With Francis Ngannou set to make his next appearance in the boxing ring as he’ll take on Anthony Joshua, both fighters appeared for an opening press conference where Ngannou says he’s even more dialed-in for this fight than he was for his last against Tyson Fury.

“I’ve been sitting here listening to people talking and even Eddie praising me, which I appreciate that, but at the same time I’m not sure if he’s honest or he just wants to get me sleep on his guy which that is not going to happen,” Ngannou said. “I’m just a beginner out here that’s going to train really hard and do everything to come as the underdog to win the fight.

“So I don’t take my last fight as a reference and think that I get this done, think that I get everything. I know exactly where I am at, I’m just a beginner. I’m definitely going to come up better and, yes, get better and better.

“Yes, the Tyson Fury fight was great, that was awesome, but that’s now in the past and I have a new challenge in front of me that I take even more serious than before because now I think there is something more on the line which is probably the undisputed.

“So let’s see. Maybe I will do something that nobody have done before and I really believe that I have the tools of doing that, starting with having a win over AJ on March 8th in Riyadh which is a big fight. Not an easy one, but a possible one.

“I heard that he doesn’t have a chin. I don’t know if it’s true or not, we’re going to find out. I hope that I have an opportunity to test that out. That’s what I’m wishing for.”
