Matchroom and Queensberry ‘in’ for five vs five fight card

Fighting

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions appear set for a five vs five card of fights in Saudi Arabia this year.

The idea has been bounced around for a bit now, and now both sides are publicly saying they’re in.

No fights have been announced, nor has a date, but the graphics the sides have put out do include Saudi and Riyadh Season logos, which makes sense, Saudi Arabia is definitely the best place for, quite likely, mostly British fighters to face each other.

Anything official on the card could wait until some of the bigger names on both sides have upcoming fights play out. For instance, Eddie Hearn has suggested a Nick Ball vs Raymond Ford fight, and both of them have world title fights set at the moment, Ball facing Rey Vargas on Feb. 17 and Ford facing Otabek Kholmatov on Feb. 16.

If they both win, obviously they could be right on schedule for an immediate unification, which would be a good fight. And if they both lose, they could be right on schedule to face one another anyway.

Callum Smith vs Anthony Yarde is another fight Hearn has suggested.

All of this will have to actually come together, but it’s a fun idea at the very least.
