Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – In a heavyweight clash that kicked off the Day of Reckoning card, Frank Sanchez (24-0, 17 KOs) blasted out Junior Fa (20-3, 11 KOs) in the seventh round. (photos by Mark Robinson)
Sanchez was content to work off the jab and circle the ring. Fa was coming forward and looking for his own jab. Every now and then, Sanchez would let his hands go with a combination of punches.
In the fifth, Sanchez began to let his hands go a little more often, but he was still showing Fa a lot of respect by staying on the backfoot and jabbing. Fa began to get a little braver in the sixth, as he was jumping in and throwing his right hand off the jab – but then Sanchez connected with a big right to drop Fa at the bell.
Sanchez unleased with a big combination at the start of the seventh to drop Fa for a second time. Fa beat the count, with Sanchez jumping on him with big punches to pursue a finish. Fa was circling the ring, looking to survive. Sanchez connected with a two-punch combination that dropped Fa for a third time and the fight was waved off.
