Ryan Garcia misses weight, will still fight Devin Haney

Fighting

Ryan Garcia has reportedly missed weight by a full three lbs ahead of Saturday’s fight with Devin Haney, which will still go forward.

Haney himself said on social media that Garcia missed weight, and that he honored the $500,000 per lb over, so that is $1.5 million of Garcia’s money to Haney.

Golden Boy has confirmed that Garcia missed weight and has honored the handshake agreement from yesterday’s press conference.

Haney (30-0, 15 KO) reportedly made weight stripping down.

This is all from the actual, official weigh-in, and not the “ceremonial” event for the public and live stream that starts shortly.

This event has managed, at this point, to lose any actual momentum as something meaningful, and at this point is pretty much an embarrassment to the sport — which is hard to do, as boxing is pretty embarrassing in general — and to the event’s promoters.
