With recent news that a fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is off the table for the time being, Eubank Jr has expressed some interest in taking on unified middleweight titleholder Janibek Alimkhanuly. That apparent interest is music to the ears of Top Rank’s Todd DuBoef, who tells Sky Sports ‘It’s all green light from here.’
“We’ve put it out there and (Alimkhanuly) given us the directive of we’ll fight anybody. We think he’s the premier guy in the middleweight division…Eubank said he was interested, we’re interested.”
DuBoef would continue by saying he thinks the matchup would be a great fight for the fans, and he’s eager to get the business underway.
“I think Janibek, with the right dance partner, the fans there will appreciate his skillset. It makes sense with the right guy, Eubank would be the right guy, and we’re ready to go.”
Alimkhanuly, who holds the IBF and WBO world titles at 160, is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Vincenzo Gualitieri in October but hasn’t reached the marketing heights that they could leverage off of a name like Eubank.
Hopefully these talks will gain some traction quick.y.
